The role of springs/dampeners is taken over by special air suspension elements, in which the function of a steel spring is provided by an airbag. HPS has developed these air suspension components especially for this use in performance handling systems.
The ground clearance of the vehicle can be changed by varying the air pressure in the air suspension system.
In a full-scale Airride System, the air comes from a supply tank. The vehicle thus can be moved up or down within fractions of a second, without constantly having to turn on the compressor.
